La Tranche Sur Mer is the nearest local town. There are all the facilities you are likely to need here, including a very good selection of shops, bars and restaurants, Doctor, Dentist, Pharmacy. It is a very pretty small  town with charming little streets of white rendered houses, and 13km of safe sandy beaches, which makes it extremely popular with tourists. There is a vibrant avenue of shops and restaurants where you will find just about everything you need between the town square and the beach. The beach at La Tranche Sur Mer has good facilities for youngsters with its activites zone, and adults with a wide range of water sports available, while the local beach at La Terriere is one of three in France that has attained 3 star rating on the international wannasurf web-site. The large jetty at La Tranche Sur Mer has just  undergone major reconstruction, and will hopefully be offering ferry trips to the Isle De Re this season. The tourist office can supply you with the information you need to find your way around town, and will let you know of any festivals or events which are happening. There are many other activities available close by including horse riding, cycling, fishing and go carting.  


There are many interesting places to visit locally.  

ILE DE RE is a beautiful island which has inspired artists for generations. The island is easily accessible as a day trip from La Tranche Sur Mer.

Travelling inland there are the medieval and renaissance delights of FONTENAY LE COMTE and the PARC DES FLORALIES, 7 hectares of  forest with oak and pine trees and a large array of wild flowers.

There is also the popular attraction of the PUY DU FOU. This Chateau was discovered in June 1977, it was totally overgrown with nettles, 30 years later it has been hailed as a worldwide success story and is now the scene for spectacular displays and re-enactments of days gone by such as Roman Gladiators, Medieval village scenes and Viking attacks.
